SwiftLift Facelift – Houston Cosmetic Procedures
62 year old, surgery to get rid of “Scary Look” observed by her students.
2 months later after brow lift, forhead lift and skin peel.
In this fast paced Houston world we live in, our potential effectiveness is often judged by others on our appearance. Fair or not, when you do not look your best or when you look older than you are, your friends, employees, and potential suitors subconsciously place you in a category you may not find exactly flattering. You look in the mirror and wish you looked as good as you felt. If only there was some way you could lose those jowls and tighten your upper neck without being out of action for weeks and spending a lot in the process. Well, now there are new cosmetic procedures and we call this relatively new cosmetic surgery service SwiftLift RegeNouveau™!
WHAT IS THE SWIFTLIFT REGENOUVEAU™ PROCESURE?
The SwiftLift RegeNouveau™ service utilizes a surgical procedure performed by a Houston cosmetic surgeon which uses a minimal access incision in front of the ear to insert a permanent purse-string suture which attaches to the bone in front of the ear. This is the strongest structure in the face and allows a long-lasting lifting of the tissue of the midface, jowls, and upper neck when tightened. The correction is especially noticeable for the jowls and the marionette (“drool”) lines. Your skin will continue to age but you will never again have the sagging skin you had before your surgery.
WHAT THE SWIFTLIFT REGENOUVEAU™ PROCEDURE IS NOT.
Eyebrow lift- opens up expression and creates a happy look.
A SwiftLift RegeNouveau™ Procedure is not the minilift which tightens the skin only. It tightens the deeper structures of the lower face which assures a long -lasting result. It is not a procedure which addresses problems of the brows, eyelids, or wrinkles in those areas. Additional procedures may be performed including: eyelid surgery, forehead lift, chemical peels, laser resurfacing or BOTOX to improve these areas.
This procedure will improve the jowls, the marionette (“drool”) lines and the upper neck. Marionette lines are the deep lines that run from the corner of the mouth to the chin and are difficult to eliminate with standard procedures.
HOW IS A SWIFTLIFT REGENOUVEAU™ PROCEDURE DIFFERENT FROM THE STANDARD HOUSTON FACE LIFT?
A SwiftLift RegeNouveau™ Procedure differs from a standard facelift in several ways: the incision for the procedure is about one half the length of a regular face lift incision. The incision behind the ear is very little if any incision is necessary behind the ear. The facial tissues descend vertically with aging due to gravity. This procedure replaces these tissues in a vertical direction as opposed to the standard facelift which pulls toward the ear. We feel the end result with this procedure is more natural. The SwiftLift RegeNouveau™ Procedure gathers the tissues with a permanent non palpable suture, fixed to the bone in front of the ear. Stretching and relapse are almost impossible. A standard facelift uses sutures which are attached to other soft tissue. Stretching and return of tissue to its original position is much more likely. There is less surgery with a SwiftLift RegeNouveau™ Procedure. Recovery is faster and more comfortable.
Browlift incision almost unoticeable after 2 months.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS?
Any surgical procedure carries risks and they are thoroughly discussed prior to surgery. There is some risk of scarring but Dr. Capriotti is an experienced cosmetic surgeon and will make every effort to hide these incisions and make them inconspicuous. They should be hard to find after a few months. Bleeding and infection are possible but uncommon. They are handled if they arise and usually result in no permanent damage. Slight numbness is always temporary. Hair or skin loss can occur but are less common than with a standard Houston face lift.
AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE AND WHEN SHOULD I CONSIDER THIS PROCEDURE?
When you look in the mirror and notice how much your starting to look like your mother- you are a candidate. When you look in the mirror and your eyes immediately go to those deep lines around your mouth, your jowls, or that gathering skin under your chin- you are a candidate. When your friends or coworkers start saying you look like you need a vacation, and you do not have another one for 11 months- you are a candidate. When the ticket taker at the movies asks if you want a senior ticket- and you are 45- you are a candidate! In short, when you simply want to look like you did 10-15 years ago for whatever reason or do not want to go through the inevitable seven stages of aging without a fight- you are a candidate!

HOW WE AGE
The changes associated with aging do not occur all at once – they begin in a slow, not easily apparent manner and involve several components of the face.
The skull becomes smaller and thinner as we get older, causing the overlying tissue, particularly the facial area, to be in excess.
Loss of elastic tissue then results in deepening of the facial lines of expression, sagging of the outer part of the eyebrows so that the eyes appear smaller and crows feet form. Pouches along the jawline are known to cause “jowls” and the “double chin” underneath.
Degenerative changes and sun damage causes the skin to look tired, but more importantly, some faces become etched with numerous wrinkles along with the sagging.
Fat in the face is absorbed leading to a hollow, “sunken in” look.
WHAT CAN BE DONE
A Houston cosmetic surgery face lift tightens the supporting structures of the face restoring a solid foundation on which the overlaying skin is redraped. Fat is restored to fill out the face by simultaneous fat injections. The skin can be treated at the same time with rejuvenating skin peels. This simultaneous peel adds little to the overall healing time.
Facelift surgery (cheek-neck lift surgery) is performed by a Houston cosmetic surgeon to improve the aged appearance of the lower two-thirds of the face and the neck.
With the aging process, there is a loss of elasticity in the skin, decreased muscle tone, and loss of fatty tissue immediately beneath the facial skin. Conversely there may be an accumulation of fatty tissue and relaxed muscle under the chin. Heredity and sun exposure definitely influence the progression of facial aging.
Forehead and eyelid surgery can be done in conjunction with the face lift. The amount of improvement with cosmetic surgery depends upon the extent of sagging, the bone structure of the face and wrinkling of the skin. The goal of this surgery is a more rested, vibrant and natural look — not a pulled, mask-like appearance.
In the past, face lift surgery involved only the removal of excess facial and neck skin. Today there are several techniques used in a face lift, depending upon the problems that each patient has and what the patient wants to achieve.
The most common patient concerns are jowls that occur along the jaw line, lax skin in the neck, bands or “turkey gobbler” appearance of the neck under the chin, and accumulation of fat immediately beneath the chin. In order to correct these problems, all of the involved tissues must be corrected. That is to say, not only is excess skin excised and fat removed with liposuction, but the platysma muscle is lifted and tightened as well (called the platysma cervical lift.)
Costs vary depending upon the extent of the surgery and areas treated. Fees for elective surgery are usually paid prior to surgery. In general, cosmetic surgery is considered elective and is not covered by most insurance plans unless the primary reason for surgery is to improve function. To be sure, contact your insurance company before surgery.
